What if I told you
a tale of monsters—people from outerspace.
Monsters who invaded our planet, who terrorized our people.
Monsters who came to steal the soil of our planet,
who came to take the water from our oceans,
who came to take everything from us, for their people, killing us in the process.
What if I told you a tale of monsters.
Monsters who came from outerspace
who came to colonize our planet with their people,
with their monster people.
Monsters who came to kill us in the billions
to make room for their people. Imagine that!
Imagine
that they had horrible weapons of mass destruction,
that they destroyed all of our cities,
killed human beings in the billions,
left only a few thousand of us to be slaves,
to do the hardest work, slave’s work, for the monsters from outerspace.
Imagine:
all of our human art, our history, technology—destroyed.
Our children made slaves, born into slavery,
born into ignorance, ignorant of our human accomplishments;
ignorant of our human civilizations
—only knowing inferiority, slavery, ignorance.
We would be taught that we have always been
the servants of the monsters from outerspace
that we were foreigners, parasites on our own planet, our planet Earth;
that we were less intelligent, less beautiful,
a lesser form of life—that we were less of everything.
And we would believe it!
We would believe it all—because all of our history
would have been destroyed.
Our cities, our civilizations—destroyed.
All knowledge of our human greatness—destroyed.
We would live generation after generation
empty of pride, empty of hope, empty of knowledge,
ignorant of the monsters’ crimes committed against our planet’s people.
We would be subservient to the monsters from outerspace, to the culture from outerspace.
We would be taught to hate ourselves, to want to be
like the monsters from outerspace
We would mimic them, dress like them, alter our features
to look like them—happy to be their slaves, happy in our ignorance.
We would be poor, they would be rich
—they would be rich from our planet, from our labor.
We would believe ourselves inferior,
to be without accomplishments, without merit.
We would in effect be.......what Mexicans, Chicanos,
“Centro Americanos”,
“Native Americans”, and all
the Nican Tlaca (Indigenous people) are today.
Today we are slaves to European interests and culture.
Today we suffer from the invasion of 500 years ago.
This is the story of what has happened to us as Mexicans,
Chicanos, Salvadorians, Guatemalans, Nicaraguans, Hondurans,
Costa Ricans, “Native Americans”
—and as the Nican Tlaca people of Anahuac.
As a people, we have been made slaves to the monsters from Europe.
The Europeans who invaded us did all of the same things
that the monsters from outerspace did.
Europeans did things even worse
than in this story of monsters from outerspace.
They are still doing a lot of these monstrous things.
They are still on our land.
They have forced themselves on our land, into our lives.
They continue to keep us ignorant and enslaved.
We are still ignorant of our past glories,
ignorant of our history, ignorant of who we really are: the owners of this land.
Ignorant that we are still slaves of the Europeans.
Ignorant that we are not Hispanic or Latino, not Europeans.
We suffer the enslavement of our people on our own land,
slaves without chains—they call us foreigners on our own land.
Europeans killed 23 million of our people
(95% of our people were killed by them).
They raped our people, and we have been monstrously taught to take pride in that rape.
They stole our land and our wealth,
and we have pathetically been taught to refuse to demand it back—or to think of our land as ours.
They burned our libraries of the great knowledge
of our people, and we don’t even care.
We have been taught to not care.
They enslaved us in the past, worked us to death,
and we are still slaves, still being destroyed as a people.
They forced their names on us,
and their Spanish and European languages.
They destroyed our cities, our culture, our independence.
They destroyed our theology and our temples,
and jammed us with their cross, their empty rituals, their hell.
They tried to destroy everything, tried to kill all of us,
but they were too lazy to do all of the work themselves
so they kept some of us alive as slaves to do their work.
They have kept us ignorant of all of this.
We are today slaves to the monsters from another world,
(the Europeans and their descendants).
They have taken our land and its wealth from us
and now they call it theirs.
And they say that we are crazy to even think
that we are ever going to get our land back.
Europeans and European squatters descendants
don’t want us to speak of this.
Yes, they are thieves,
murderers, rapists, enslavers, liars, dishonorable people.
Yes, they are the descendants of these criminals,
the monsters from the world called Europe.
And they benefit from the past crimes of thieves,
murderers, rapists, enslavers, liars, dishonorable people—they hold all the benefits
of the crimes, therefore they are ongoing participants in the crimes of their ancestors!
They are descendants of the monsters from the world called Europe.
We are unrebellious slaves, ignorant slaves, happy slaves.
We are prisoners to their interests and their world.
Europeans might as well be the monster people from outerspace.
Because it looks just as hopeless for us!
We cannot imagine how we can undo this invasion, this slavery.
We cannot imagine ourselves with pride, our own pride, Mexica pride.
We cannot imagine ourselves in charge of our own lives,
owning and controlling our land, again.
Owning and controlling our destiny—again!
We cannot imagine such a thing.
We cannot imagine our lives
without these Europeans controlling our lives.
We cannot imagine our people truly free.
We cannot imagine freedom from Europeans.
What would we do without these monsters from Europe?
How could we live without them?
It is unthinkable!
It is unimaginable!
It is unimaginable for us
or for them!
We cannot think of anything other than this prison of our demise,
this, their damnation of us, that we have been taught to love,
that we have been taught to live and die for.
This is slavery! It is our death! It is genocide!
We cannot think of a way out!
We are not supposed to think!
We are slaves—on our own land!
We cannot imagine such a thing as Liberation, or our land without Europeans.
We cannot imagine such a thing!
It is...............an unimaginable thing!
